Chichén Itzá has several attractions within the site for you to explore, and if you’re a history buff, you could easily spend a minimum of two hours learning about its history and architecture. If you choose the skip-the-line tickets, you can explore the site at your own pace for as long as you’d like.
On the other hand, the guided walking tour lasts 1.5 hours and gives you a comprehensive insight into the site’s political, military, and cultural significance.
Chichén Itzá remains open every day between 8am and 6pm. Last entry to the site is at 4pm.
If your biggest consideration is milder temperatures, the best time to visit Chichén Itzá is during the dry season between November and April. However, if you want to explore the site with fewer crowds, you should aim for the shoulder months of February or March. Alternatively, the low season between November and June is also a great time to consider.
You can easily spend between 2-3 hours exploring he entire site and learning about its history and its military & cultural significance.
If you’re opting for a day trip to Chichén Itzá, you should be prepared to set aside between 9-12 hours. This will include the time spent on transfers from a common meeting point or your hotel, and at the different sites included in the tour.
The Chichén Itzá early access guided tour begins at 4:30am - this is when you’ll be picked up from a shared meeting point or directly from your hotel, based on which option you choose. The tour will last roughly 9 hours.
While the site is open all days of the week, Sundays tend to be the busiest as this is when Mexican residents and citizens enjoy free entry. We’d recommend planning your visit for a weekday morning to enjoy fewer crowds and a calmer atmosphere overall.
